So, I may have accidentally written a children’s b

So, I may have accidentally written a children’s book. Or three.

It turns out my little writing project to try and stretch my post-stroke creative muscles, morphed into a small series about a curious tuxedo cat called Mixy, a nervous mouse called Pip, and a tiny lantern keeper named Luma, a Glowling who lives behind the garden shed.

The first book is called Mixy the Garden Detective: The Mystery of the Midnight Glow and it is now live on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle Unlimited.

The chapters are short on purpose. Properly short. The kind where “one more chapter pleeease” really does mean five more minutes, not a full bedtime renegotiation.

Each chapter also has a natural stopping point, which makes it ideal for calm evening reading, or for children beginning to read longer stories on their own.

It’s gentle, cosy, slightly mysterious, and in addition to Mixy, Pip and Luma, it involves a grumpy toad, a cool beetle, and a very determined magpie.

So if you know a small human aged about 5 to 9 who likes animals, secret doors, tiny magical creatures, or gardens that are clearly keeping secrets after dark, I would be very grateful if you shared it with them.

And yes, Mixy is a real cat.
She has, to the best of my knowledge, never solved a mystery and would be terrified of a mouse. 😉

Hi @asda , can we have a quick chat about why your stores keep sending short dated, damaged, or clearly unwanted stock to online customers without warning? Because it doesn't FEEL accidental. It feels like the items people would never pick in store are quietly being pushed into delivery orders instead.

Online shopping might be a convenience for some people. For others, like our family, it's essential. Those of us with disabilities, illness, or mobility limitations rely on delivery just to get food into the house. We didn't sign up for the “mystery crate challenge” version of grocery shopping.

You made £764 million in profit last year, so you might have not noticed, but there is a cost of living crisis on. Prices keep rising. Everything costs more right now. But if I pay the same shelf price as in store shoppers, and then ALSO pay extra for delivery, picking and packing, why am I the one getting the stock nobody else would take? People cannot afford to replace food that should never have left the shop.

Just apply for a refund, I hear you say? Ah, the ASDA online grocery refunds process is a joy. Let’s talk about that, shall we?

I report several short dated or out of date items in my delivery. Three hours later I get a message of “refund denied” because the AI bot you use thinks too many problems in one order must be suspicious, or a mistake. Then I get to spend half an hour on the phone just to hear “we will refund this as a goodwill gesture”. No ASDA, it is not goodwill, it is basic responsibility. If the goods are not acceptable, or merchandisable quality, with a reasonable expiry date, then refund them. Simple.

Customers should check dates at the door, I hear you say? Really? All 54 items, while the driver arrives early, unloads quickly, and has to leave straight away? There is no time to check everything on delivery, you're left playing 'pot luck' when putting things away. Your stores are not flagging short dated items before delivery. Not cool, ASDA.

If “That’s ASDA Price”, then the real cost of shopping with you is too high. 🛒📦🤔
