So, Abi and I saw these online yesterday and wanted something small to add to our Autumn supplies this year. For £4.00 each from Poundland and I confess, I was not expecting much from these mugs, as I have had crappy ones from them before.

These have just arrived, and I have to say, these are gorgeous quality, not too heavy, solid handles, cute as a button (mushroom 😉 ) and HUGE!!! I am someone that forgets to drink their hot drinks quickly, and when I finally do remember, the drink is cold. This lidded mug will hopefully help me have more warm bevvies this chilly season and less stone-cold chai tea!

The only change I would make to these is adding a rubber seal around the inside of the lid to prevent damage/wear and tear.

It is 100% worth ordering these, they're £4 online and do next-day delivery with DPD. The mugs were double-wrapped in bubble wrap, so arrived in fabulous condition.

If you get paid monthly (at the end of the month), then there are now only FIVE paydays left until Christmas.

If you're in the South/East of the UK today, it's going to be a HOT one - and that means heat-induced illness is on the cards!

Please 'Hydrate and Hide' today, stay indoors if you can; keep children and pets inside, and avoid any physical activity if possible.

**REMINDER**:
If you're on any medication, including but not limited to blood pressure meds, anti-depressants, asthma meds, or if you're a Type 2 diabetic it's really important to make sure that you pay attention to your hydration during heatwaves as the heat can make you feel really, really unwell.

While it shouldn't be your primary source of hydration, if you find yourself feeling a bit 'blergh' with the heat, then make up an electrolyte solution in 1 litre of water and sip throughout the day, in addition to your regular water consumption.

Below, there are two versions of an electrolyte solution (including one that is suitable for us Type 2 people), but you can also google 'St Marks Solution NHS' and get an NHS-approved recipe for an electrolyte solution. Instead of 20g glucose in the recipe, you can use 14g sugar (approx. 3 teaspoons).

GENERAL ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION

* 1 litre of water
* 1/2 tsp. Pink Himalayan/ Sea / Rock Salt
* 1 – 2 tbsp. honey or sugar
* Juice of 1 – 2 lemons or oranges to taste

If, like me, you're a type 2 diabetic - the recipe above is NOT the electrolyte solution for you, try this one instead (only 1.6g of carbs):

TYPE 2 FRIENDLY ELECTROLYTE SOLUTION

* Juice of 1/2 lemon or lime
* 5-15ml Apple Cider Vinegar with The Mother
* 1/4 tsp Ground Pink Himalayan / Sea / Rock Salt
* 1/4 tsp Cream of Tartar
* 300-500ml Water (or omit this and take it as a shot!)

Be heat smart this week, stay safe, stay hydrated 🙂

How can it be a decade since we lost this man?

The following post was written on the 17th August 2014.

I have been thinking about the global outpouring of grief and disbelief upon the death of Robin Williams this week. Like so many others, I too sucked in a deep, shocked breath at the news, then desperately typed ‘Robin Williams death hoax’ into Google, only to be met with the horrifying reality that we had indeed lost another genius. As the days have passed, I have read wonderful things & horrible things; thankfully the ratio of good to bad seems to be hovering somewhere around 3000:1.

It got me thinking; what earned this single actor a place in so many hearts?
The only answer I could come up with was, that he was part of the childhoods of four generations of children. I am now forty and Robin Williams has been providing magic and mayhem in movie form for almost that entire time.
